The Good, The Bad, The Ugly 2008

"If our soldiers are not overburdened with money, it is not because they have a distaste for riches; if their lives are not unduly long, it is not because they are disinclined to longevity."
Sun Tzu

This week Our Community was blessed with the return of Willie Roaf. Willie returned to town for the announcement of his September induction into the Saints Hall of Fame. Willie said he would choose to represent Our New Orleans Saints if inducted into the Pro-Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio should he be elected to it. Willie's issue was with Mueller and Haz not Our Football Club.

Charles Grant was stabbed in the neck in February. The details of the fracas are beginning to see the light. Korynda Reed died in the fight outside Club 92 on Church Road in Blakely, Georgia. Charles Grant has been indicted for manslaughter in Reed's death. This story will not go away.

Glass Joe, Dan Morgan called it quits just three months after signing a piece of paper that said he was a New Orleans Saint. It's the Berto completely obscure trivia of the day challenge to reveal who had a longer stint with Our New Orleans Saints: Glass Joe, Dan Morgan or Paul Hornung. After the 1966 season, Hornung was selected by the Saints in the expansion draft on February 9th and signed to a hefty contract, Hornung retired in July rather than risk permanent injury to his neck. At the inception of this team we did have a Heisman trophy winner who lasted longer than Glass Joe, Dan Morgan.

Happy Days?
Those were the days............

Cheers and congratulations to Our New Orleans Hornets.

Love Your Mother, Prodigal Sons and Daughters

The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness.

Honoré de Balzac

As we honor our mothers today, keep in mind the son of New Orleans who brought his prodigal ways back home this week. The Benson purchase of the media is a vote for local business. It is a gift to Our Community.

Hornets Come Up with Brand New Logo

Our New Orleans Hornets have generated a new logo to warm up to the local fan base. With his Fleur De Bee shield let's call him SChinn.

Please Settle OUR Score

This blog has not taken the time to recognize the flavor of the week.
Our New Orleans Hornets are truly the flavor of the week.

  • Not because Reggie Bush is buddies with CP3.
  • Not because Mr. Benson was kind enough to attend a game with Mr. Shinn.
  • Not because Our New Orleans Hornets passed out gold shirts with Fleur de BEES on them for all to wear last night at the playoff game so they would look (and feel) like Saints fans.
  • Not because Aaron Neville sang the National Anthem and sat with the same Mr. Shinn last night.
Because a segment of Our Black and Gold Nation has been influenced by the Arab culture, being from the oil patch and from serving in Kuwait and Iraq.
Because a famous Arab quote goes like this “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
Because Our New Orleans Hornets can be the hand of justice for Mayor Phil Hardberger of San Antonio, re-elected in 2007, I must add.
Because he chose to pick the Saints-FALCONS game to try and court Mr. Benson.

Remember, please......................

AP Reports
Mayor, Saints owner to negotiate at season's end

October 17, 2005
SAN ANTONIO
-- Mayor Phil Hardberger reiterated his resolve to bring the Saints to San Antonio permanently, saying he wanted to close the deal before next season begins.
Hardberger, while part of a sellout crowd to watch the Saints-Falcons game Sunday in San Antonio, said Saints owner Tom Benson agreed to serious talks with him, probably at the end of this season.
Benson "understands that we will sit down and talk," Hardberger said in a story in Monday's San Antonio Express-News.
"That is his desire as well. I'm pretty comfortable in saying he wants to be here." Attempts to reach Benson by telephone Monday were not successful. Greg Bensel, team spokesman, declined comment.
The Saints are under contract to play at the Louisiana Superdome through 2010 but certain provisions allow them to opt out before a Nov. 29 deadline.
Gov. Rick Perry watched Sunday's game with Hardberger from Benson's suite and said he agrees the Saints should relocate to the Alamo City and is open to the state offering some type of financial assistance.
Hurricane Katrina damage to the Superdome prompted the Saints to practice in San Antonio and play three games in the city's 65,000-seat
Alamodome. Four other games were moved to Baton Rouge, La., where ticket sales have been sluggish.

When the Hornets took their show to OKay City, the mayor of THAT hamlet did not try to snake us while we were down. It wasn't the mayor of OKC it was Clay Bennett Chairman of private investment firm Dorchester Capital. We can understand business doing that after the storm. Heck, everyone south of I-12/I-10 was looking for a source of income from Houston to Mobile at that time.
So,
Our New Orleans Hornets can hit San Antonio and Mayor Phil right in the prideful NBA championship grin and crack a tooth.

Another Arab proverb goes like this:
“A fool may be known by six things: anger, without cause; speech, without profit; change, without progress; inquiry, without object; putting trust in a stranger, and mistaking foes for friends”

Perhaps the 2005 attempt to STEAL Our New Orleans Saints was an honest mistake?

Beautiful Noise

Many New Orleanians will be at the JazzFest on the historic Fairgrounds, the home of horse racing in Our Country dating back almost 200 years.
Saturday, late afternoon, the horses will make the run for the Kentucky Derby. It has been raining in Lexington. The track will be sloppy. This rules out some of the outside horses because they will have to run exponentially harder to make up ground on the horses with the inside route.

The favorite most praised over the past week is way, way out there.

Some have been questioning the horse most local folk like, Pyro, due to the poor showing last time out. Well, do not count Pyro out so easily as Pyro is running as the number 9 horse.

As for me, I like a certain local jockey on a certain local trainer's horse in Z-number 6 position.

Look for a reasonable surprise for tomorrow.
No Big Brown.
Z Fortune has a shot to give Robby Albarado his first Kentucky Derby.

Picks................................................................................................
Win: 6 Z Fortune 15-1
Place:
10 Colonel John 4-1
Show:
9 Pyro 6-1
Super:
18 Recapturetheglory 20-1

Who will be the last new addition standing?

It will take a player who is focused on excellence with a Fleur de Lis in his heart. A man of strength more of mind in addition to body. It is not a game. It is a mission.

Neil said it best:
"and won't play games behind me
Ill be what I am
A solitary man
Solitary man"

September Morn

We danced until the night became a brand new day
Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play
September morning still can make me feel this way

If Neil Diamond only knew what Our New Orleans Saints do for our community in the fall.

Congratulations to the Hornets who are more like a cute fancy for winning last night.

Post Draft Hype

As the draft is completed, we must rationalize what it's all about.

I can't understand the use of a draft choice on a kicker.

A KICKER.

Why not draft a LunchLady?

Okay, okay. Look at what the draft brought us last year. Only Usama.
Let's get beyond the draft....

beyond what we hope for....

How about an awesome reality?
